Internet Shopping is Safe (ISIS) is a UK affiliated body which monitor, regulates and accredits on-line retailers trading on the internet. ISIS-Accredited Retailers now account for approximately two thirds of all UK online shopping retailers. Any retailer displaying the ISIS logo on their website will be registered on ISIS Safe Shop Listings and will have been approved and checked by the ISIS administration team.

This allows purchases or consumers to shop on-line, with ISIS registered retailers, safe in the knowledge that the retailer is a genuine company that undertakes retail transactions in a manner that is honest, trustworthy, fair, decent, truthful and above all else legal. The business is suitably compliant with all legislative requirements including but not limited too; employment law, factories acts, company registrations, tax and VAT compliance and data protection rules.

The ISIS Certification also ensures the companies web site and services are monitored by IMRG (Interactive Media In Retail Group).

To verify the e-Retailers ISIS accreditation, simply click on the ISIS logo on the retailer’s site - a new 'ISIS verification' page will open confirming that specific retailer’s accreditation. If you see an ISIS logo that doesn't correctly link through to the verification page then the retailer may not be accredited.

When shopping on-line please remember all the consumers statutory shopping rights, set by the UK government, still apply but it is worth running checking out the retailer when using them for the first time. This can be as simple as calling them on the phone, checking their address details, company registration or calling Trading Standards Office. Care must be taken at the point of payment by only providing payment details on a secure connection, never disclose PIN numbers to anyone and the use of a credit card provide extra protection under EU Credit Card Misuse Protection Laws which protects against fraudulent use of credit cards in EU transactions.

Please remember to keep records of all your purchases and any confirmation e-mails, check your payment card statement to ensure payments are correct and you usually have a minimum of 7 days to cancel an order and request a refund from an EU retailer. If you are buying goods from outside the EU you may be liable for import duty and VAT.
