Terry Pratchet is renowned for writing fantasy and has been doing so since the early 70s when his first novel, The Carpet People was published. His unique sense of humour and dry wit are most evident in his Discworld series of books which are by far his most well known series of books, The Discworld book was published in 1983 (The Colour Of Magic). So far he has published 38 Discworld books and various spin-off books relating to the Discworld. These books include The Discworl Mapp which is a detailed map of the Disc itself and the Science Of Discworld which contain sections explaining how the world works both from the point of view of the characters and the writers. Outside of Discworld Pratchett has written a number of children’s books including The Carpet People which was published in 1971.
