Julia Donaldson Books.
Julia Donaldson, born in 1948 is a popular children’s writer, best known for her award-winning novel The Gruffalo (1999). Similar to the writing style of the famous Bard William Shakespeare, The Gruffalo is written in rhyming couplets. Following the book’s release, it has received several awards, including the 1999 Nestle Smarties Book Prize, the Blue Peter Best Book to Read Aloud Award, and the year after release was declared the bestselling picture book of 2000. At Christmas 2009, the BBC aired a television adaptation of the book, featuring the voices of various celebrities, such as James Corden and Helena Bonham Carter. In 2004, a sequel to the popular book was released, titled The Gruffalo’s Child. Other popular books written by Donaldson, include her personal favourite The Snail and the Whale (2003) and her latest release Taby McTat. Amongst her popular picture books, Donaldson has also written collections of songs and poems, educational books that are available for schools and audio books.
