J.K. Rowling is the British author, most famous as the author of the world dominating Harry Potter books, written initially for children, but absolutely loved by all ages. Infamously written in The Elephant House café in Edinburgh, the first Potter book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was released in 1997, and before Rowling knew what had hit her, she’d gone from single mother of one, to one of the highest earner women in Great Britain, thanks to her series of seven books. The series have become so huge in their popularity, that when the final instalment Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows finally hit bookshelves on July 21st 2007, 2.65 million copies were sold in the UK alone. Furthermore, within a year over 44 million copies of the book had been snapped up across the world. Rowling has also written three books to complement the series; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them, and Quidditch through the ages, with proceeds going to charity, and In 2008, she also released The Tales of Beedle the Bard.
