Foo Fighters.
Although the Foo Fighters have been around officially, since 1995, their commercial roots stem back further. Lead Vocalist Dave Grohl was the drummer for grunge band Nirvana, from 1990 until Kurt Cobain’s premature death in 1994. In addition, the Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins performed with Alanis Morrisette on her Jagged Little Pill tour. The band’s sound is often described as being “post-grunge”, perhaps due to the influence of Grohl’s previous band, a fact of which Grohl openly confirms, by acknowledging that his song writing has always heavily influenced by Cobain. The band also cites many different artists as having immense influences over their music, from The Beatles, to Queen and Bay City Rollers. The Foo Fighters have released six studio albums, one live album and one Greatest Hits compilation album. They have also released 28 singles, the most popular being “Best of You” (2005) which peaked at number four in the UK, making the track their best selling single in the UK.
