Animal Crossing Nintendo DS.
Animal Crossing was first released on the Nintendo DS, in the UK on 31st March 2006, and exactly two years later, 9.53 copies had been sold across the globe. Similar to the popular Sims games, the player must look after the small town that their character inhabits, by fulfilling set tasks, such as collecting items, planting things, catching fish and interacting with the other citizens that inhabit the town. The majority of the game controls are done using the DS’s unique touch screen. The touch screen is used to do things like moving objects, navigating your way around the area and through the game’s menus. Whilst the main area of the game, including the town, appears on the touch screen, the top screen has an image of the sky. The game also takes advantage to the DS’s Wi-Fi Connection, and sometime if players connect, they can receive gifts into their mailboxes. Through Wi-Fi players are also able to visit the towns of their friends who also play the game, using a special “friend code”.
